National Social Science Documentation Centre (NASSDOC), was established in 1970 as a Division of the ICSSR with the objective to provide library and information support services to researchers in social sciences; those working in academic institutions, autonomous research organisations, policy making, planning and research units of government departments, business and industry etc.

NASSDOC also provides guidance to libraries of ICSSR Regional Centres and ICSSR supported Research Institutes. Meeting the challenges posed by technology driven world, it exemplifies the use of digital environment for creating, applying and utilizing information with its automated library collection, WEBOPAC, online databases/e-resources etc. It has effectively attained itself to the web enabled information and is marching ahead.

Infrastructure & Facilities

NASSDOC integrates traditional resources with state-of-the-art technology to provide seamless access and advanced research support in the social sciences.

  • The E-Library Portal provides 24/7 access to subscribed, open-access, and in-house resources, integrating Web-OPAC, the Union Catalogue, and a wide range of e-books, e-journals, monographs, reports, theses, and conference proceedings.
  • One Nation One Subscription (ONOS) offers access to globally reputed publishers such as Emerald, Oxford University Press, Project MUSE, SAGE, Elsevier (ScienceDirect), Springer, Taylor & Francis, Wiley, and others.
  • Web-OPAC and the Union Catalogue (SOCAT) provide online bibliographic records and catalogues from ICSSR institutions.
  • QR Code Access and a Wi-Fi-enabled Reading Room ensure instant mobile access, open collections, and dedicated reader terminals.
