Indian Council of Social Science Research is organising a Research Methodology Workshop from 26th February to 2nd March 2026 in collaboration with the Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development (SPNIWCD), Ministry of Women and Child Development. The workshop aims to enhance the research capacity of the faculty members, officials and researchers of Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development by equipping them with emerging methodological approaches, advanced analytical tools, evidence-based frameworks, and rigorous research practices. The programme will focus on enhancing the applied research capacity of faculty members and researchers to generate high-quality research inputs that inform policy formulation and implementation. The workshop will also serve as a stepping stone for a collaboration between the Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development and the Indian Council of Social Science Research. This partnership will help in the development of collaborative efforts in which Indian Council of Social Science Research supports Savitribai Phule National Institute of Women and Child Development in undertaking systematic research and increasing the quality and relevance of grant applications and commissioned studies in priority areas of Ministry of Women and Child Development.
The programme proposes to build institutional and individual research capacity, and foster a deeper understanding of how research can effectively support informed interventions and sustainable outcomes in the domain of women and child development. The workshop is organised as a five-day program with four modules per day, converting instructional materials into tangible results by mixing brief inputs with group activities. Foundations and study designs are the focus areas of Day 1, followed by data collection and sampling on Day 2, qualitative analysis on Day 3, quantitative analysis on Day 4, and mixed methods, research ethics and communication on Day 5. Invited external presentations by experienced researchers are also included in the schedule, and they are spread out over the week. The presentations will connect applied research findings with the methods training. Lastly, a roundtable with experts will also be held to explore collaborative interests and a workplan for the SPNIWCD-ICSSR collaboration in the next stages.
Faculty members, officials and researchers are encouraged to develop and refine a MWCD mission-linked concept note, research questions, a design choice with justification, a sampling and data collection plan, basic analysis outputs, and a short project pitch, closely aligned to the programme schedule.
