As part of its ongoing capacity-building initiatives, the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR) has launched a consortium-based e-resources subscription programme to support its network of Research Institutes and Regional Centres. This initiative aims to enhance the digital infrastructure of these institutions, enabling researchers to access high-quality academic content crucial for advancing scholarship in the social sciences.
Objectives of the Programme:
- To strengthen the research infrastructure of ICSSR-supported institutions.
- To provide seamless access to full-text, peer-reviewed e-journals, databases, and other scholarly materials.
- To offer access to premier e-resources at significantly subsidized rates through a shared licensing model.
- To ensure regular and continued access to essential online academic content.
- To sustain and scale the e-resource programme over time.
- To promote effective utilization of digital research resources across ICSSR Research Institutes, Regional Centres, and NASSDOC.
Subscriptions are tailored to institutional needs and are provided on a demand basis. Currently, prominent databases such as Brill HSS e-Journals (3 sites), CPdx (4 sites), Indiastat (20 sites), J-Gate (8 sites), JSTOR (26 sites), Prowess IQ (10 sites), Sage Research Methods (3 sites) and Statista (6 sites) are being accessed independently by the designated institutions under this initiative.
