The introduction of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme (FYUGP) under the National Education Policy 2020 represents a significant reform, marking a foundational shift in the structure and delivery of undergraduate education in India. This study captures stakeholders' views on the implementation of the Four-Year Undergraduate Programme across thirteen districts of Karnataka. The book is an effort to address the empirical gap by identifying the need for a structured and evidence-based resource to support informed decision-making. It captures ground-level experiences, perspectives and challenges of key stakeholders during the initial stages of FYUGP implementation. Drawing on empirical evidence, this book examines how the stakeholders understand and adapt to the changes introduced by the programme, while bringing to light the critical challenges in its implementation. The book essentially seeks to contribute to the ongoing discourse on educational reform and offer actionable recommendations for policymakers, administrators and practitioners who are expected to navigate the shift in education.

About the Author

HS Ashok is Research Professor at CESS, Bengaluru and formerly Professor of Psychology at Bangalore University. He has extensive research experience with several research projects and publications to his credit. He has associated with assessment bodies like the Karnataka Skill Commission and MeritTrac in developing psychometric tools.

Gowrisha is Professor and Director at the Centre for Educational and Social Studies (CESS), Bengaluru. He served as Chief Consultant in the Technical Secretariat of the Committee to draft National Education Policy. He has been actively involved in research projects funded by ICSSR, IKS Division etc.

Jai Prabhakar S.C. is Associate Professor at the Centre for Multi-disciplinary Development Research (CMDR), Dharwad. He has led and contributed to several research projects funded by ICSSR and the Government of Karnataka. He has published extensively in national and international journals and has also authored books in the field of anthropology.

S. Muralidhar is Professor and Head of the Department of Commerce and Management at Government First Grade College, Kolar and Dean-Faculty of Commerce & Management Studies, Bengaluru North University. He has also played a key role in NEP implementation in Karnataka as a member of the Governance and Regulation Sub-committee.
