Call for Papers under the Theme and Sub-themes of ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’

Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ is an initiative to celebrate and commemorate 75 years of progressive independent India and the glorious history of its people, culture and achievements. This Mahotsav is dedicated to the people of India who have been instrumental in bringing to India its evolutionary journey and those who envisioned a new India, energised by the spirit of Atmanirbhar Bharat.

‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ is an embodiment of all that is progressive about India’s socio-cultural, political and economic identity. One of the primary foci of the celebration is to document our unsung heroes, lesser known personalities and places that have made invaluable contributions in the freedom struggle of India and the progress made thereafter. It commenced on 12th March 2021 with a 75-week countdown to our 75th Anniversary of independence and would be concluded post a year, on 15th August 2023.

Call for Papers

The Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), New Delhi invites research papers/ articles to be published by ICSSR in book/journal form. The articles should focus on one of the themes/sub-themes of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.

The themes as planned and announced by the Government to celebrate the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ are as follows:

  1. Freedom Struggle
  2. Actions@75
  3. Achievements@75
  4. Ideas@75, and
  5. Resolve@75

Each of these themes is further developed into sub-themes, as follows:

1. Freedom Struggle:

  1. Movements & Struggles freedom movements
  2. Forgotten Heroes; Stories of Unsung heroes, freedom fighters
  3. Milestones; key milestones during the freedom struggle and
  4. Ideas-ideas that inspired the struggle for independence

2. Ideas@75 (Ideas and Ideals which unite the country)

  1. Vasudev Kutumbakam
  2. National Security
  3. Innovation, Peace & Unity
  4. Ideas of India
  5. Development
  6. Sustainability, and
  7. Justice

ICSSR welcomes contributions from Indian scholars/researchers by inviting papers which may have interdisciplinary/multidisciplinary perspective. The length of papers should preferably be between 3000 and 5000 words.

Submission Guidelines

  • The font of the submitted papers/articles should be Times New Roman, 12 point and double space. It should be in the PDF format.
  • Name(s) of author(s) along with author’s affiliation and institutional address (in case of more than one author, the name and address of the corresponding author with pin code and email id must be provided.
  • A 100–150 word Abstract along with 4 to 5 relevant keywords should be a part of the content.
  • All notes must be listed as endnotes.
  • The ICSSR takes issues of copyright infringement, plagiarism or other breaches of best practise in publication very seriously. Submitted articles may be checked for similarity by standard checking software/s.
  • While submitting the paper, it should be clearly mentioned under which theme/sub-theme the paper falls.
  • Papers may be submitted either in Engish or in Hindi.

The papers/articles received will be reviewed through a team of eminent social scientists.
