Annexure I

Instructions for Applicants

(Kindly note that all the documents should be typed or word processed (font : Tahoma, size 12 point), single sided, one and half space on A-4 (8.5"X11"; or 21.5cm X 28 cm) white paper)

A complete application must include the following :

• Application for Grant on a plain sheet with one passport size photograph of the applicant(s) pasted on the upper right hand corner.
• Four copies of the Research Proposal typed in one and a half space on A-4 size paper; the length of the proposal should not exceed 8 pages (see annexure II)
• Five copies of Summary of the Research Proposal (about 500 words) indicating the statement of the problem, objective of the study, research questions or hypothesis or both, sample size (if any) and research methodology.
• Four copies of the bio-data of the applicant (and that of the associate project director, if there is one) in the prescribed format (see annexure VI)
• Five copies of the cost estimates to cover expected expenditure on Research Assistance, Travel or field work and consultation, data processing, stationery and printing, purchase of equipment (not to exceed 5% of the total budget; purchase of books and journals (limited to 5% of the total budget), contingency expenses including postage, any other (to be specified), 5% of the total cost as overhead charges payable to the affiliating organization. ICSSR reserves the right to modify the proposed budget. (Refer to annexure III for cost estimation).
• Two copies of the list of five experts of the rank of professors, with complete postal details, who you think could be the part of the peer group and give comments on your proposal.
• Forwarding Letter from the Affiliating Institute see annexure IV for format of letter from Affiliating Institute.

APPLICATIONS THAT DO NOT CONFORM TO THE ABOVE MENTIONED GUIDELINES WOULD BE REJECTED.(Note : Please complete the Personal Information Sheet (see annexure V)
